Summary
Licensure of abortion clinics. Requires all abortion clinics, defined as any facility other than a hospital or an ambulatory surgery center in which 25 or more first trimester abortions are performed in any 12-month period, to be licensed and to comply with the requirements currently in place for ambulatory surgery centers except the requirement for a certificate of public need. The Board of Health may also waive certain structural requirements.

This bill would obviously close clinics that provide women's health care and pre-natal care at low or no cost to women in need. Why is this a priority for law-makers?
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that first-trimester abortions be performed in the more private and intimate setting of a doctor's office or abortion clinic, rather than in a hospital.
It seems that the desire to force personal moral beliefs on others outweighs the desire to help those in need.
Hopefully this will not pass. This is the only medical procedure they are going to require this increase in "safety". You can have extensive plastic surgery or a colonoscopy with resection of polyps in a procedure room at a medical facility but not a D&C. You can have a hysteroscopy and essure blockage of your tubes in the office but not a D&C. And there is no data to suggest there is a health problem that need solving. A D&C is one of the safest and easy procedures to do.
