Description

Alcoholic beverages; underage possession. Changes the penalty for possession of alcoholic beverages by a person under age 21 to a Class 2 misdemeanor (confinement in jail for not more than six months and a fine of not more than $1000, either or both) from a Class 1 misdemeanor (confinement in jail for not more than 12 months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both). Amends § 4.1-305 (“Purchasing or possessing alcoholic beverages unlawful in certain cases; venue; exceptions; penalty; forfeiture; deferred proceedings; treatment and education programs and services.”), of the Code of Virginia.
