SJ109: Commending the Exchange Club of Martinsville on the occasion of its 70th anniversary.
WHEREAS, the Exchange Club of Martinsville will celebrate 70 years of service to the community of Martinsville-Henry County in April of 2008; and
WHEREAS, the Exchange Club of Martinsville sponsors numerous projects to benefit the citizens of Martinsville and Henry County, including programs to support children and young people, such as Child Abuse Prevention Awareness, Youth of the Month and Youth of the Year, and Young Citizenship Award; and
WHEREAS, to promote patriotism and enhance knowledge of the history of the United States, the Exchange Club of Martinsville promotes Americanism projects like GIVEAKIDAFLAGTOWAVE and the Freedom Shrines’ historic document reproductions that are displayed in local schools and Liberty Fair Mall; and
WHEREAS, the Exchange Club of Martinsville is involved in numerous community service programs, such as the Outstanding Police Officer and Outstanding Fire Fighter awards; and
WHEREAS, the Exchange Club of Martinsville will celebrate 70 years of service with a gala event in April and the compiling of a 70th Anniversary History Book to promote service to others in the community; and
WHEREAS, the outstanding and hardworking members and volunteers of the Exchange Club of Martinsville have been dedicated partners of the community and have been instrumental in helping countless citizens in need in Martinsville and Henry County; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the Exchange Club of Martinsville on the occasion of its historic 70th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Exchange Club of Martinsville as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to the club for its commitment to the citizens of Martinsville and Henry County.
