SJ6028: Commending Thomas L. Gribble.
WHEREAS, Thomas L. Gribble of Alexandria, will retire on August 1, 2008, after 25 years of outstanding public service to the Commonwealth and the nation; and
WHEREAS, Thomas “Tom” Gribble graduated from Army Officer Candidate School in 1967, and served his country as a Transportation Warplans Officer in Central Europe, helping to coordinate the Army’s European Wartime Movement Plan; and
WHEREAS, Tom Gribble began his distinguished civil service career in 1983, after graduating from the Transportation Career Course at the Navy's School of Physical Distribution Management; and he went to work at the Navy Material Command Career Management Center in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, beginning in 1986, Tom Gribble joined the Transportation Directorate at the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) in Arlington; and
WHEREAS, a hardworking and knowledgeable civil servant, Tom Gribble worked for the Chief of Naval Operations in Washington, D.C., beginning in 1995, where he was a liaison to the NAVSUP for transportation; and
WHEREAS, in March 2001, Tom Gribble became the deputy branch head for the Supply Operations and Policy Branch under the Director of Naval Transportation; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as deputy branch head, Tom Gribble developed the annual Sponsor Program Proposal; served as a Navy representative on several joint logistics working groups; and oversaw freight, personal property, and passenger transportation efforts; and
WHEREAS, in October 2004, Tom Gribble was selected for his present post as assistant for programs and budget for the Navy’s Supply, Ordnance, and Logistics Operations Division; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Thomas L. Gribble on his 25 years of dedication and exceptional public service to the Commonwealth and the nation; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Thomas L. Gribble as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his many achievements and best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement.
