Description

Court-established community service programs. Provides that a court has the discretion to establish a program to allow persons upon whom fines and costs have been imposed to discharge all or part of the fines or costs through the performance of community service. Currently, the establishment of such a program is mandatory. Amends § 19.2-354 (“Authority of court to order payment of fine, costs, forfeitures, penalties or restitution in installments or upon other terms and conditions; community work in lieu of payment.”), of the Code of Virginia.
