Description

Influenza; vaccination of minors. Requires the Board of Health to, by August 31, 2009, develop and issue guidelines for administration of influenza vaccine to minors by registered nurses, and provides that a prescriber, acting on behalf of the Department of Health and in accordance with guidelines issued by the Department of Health may authorize the administration of influenza vaccine to a minor by a registered nurse. This bill further provides that the presence and consent of the minor's parent, guardian or legal representative shall be required for administration of the vaccine. Amends § 32.1-46.02 (“Administration of influenza vaccine to minors.”), § 54.1-3408 (“Professional use by practitioners.”), of the Code of Virginia. View Full Text »
