HJ1016: Commending Roberta B. Lyle.
WHEREAS, Roberta B. Lyle, a respected citizen and member of the Glasgow Town Council for 34 years, is recognized for her exemplary service to her community and her fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Lyle earned a bachelor’s degree from Virginia State University and received a master’s degree in education from the University of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated educator and retired elementary school teacher, Roberta Lyle was first elected to the Glasgow Town Council in 1974; and
WHEREAS, a hardworking council member, Roberta Lyle served on the Budget and Finance Committee and was chairperson of the Parks and Recreation Committee; and
WHEREAS, dedicated to the prosperity of Glasgow, Roberta Lyle has been a tireless supporter of the community and an active member and leader of many civic and professional organizations, including the Virginia and Ann Ellen Early Chapter 209 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the NAACP, Concerned Citizens of Glasgow, Glasgow Community Watch, Virginia Retired Teachers Association, and many others; and
WHEREAS, Roberta Lyle is a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where she has served as chair of the Board of Deaconess, as a member of the Senior Choir and Usher Board, and is active in the church's many missions in the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Roberta B. Lyle on her many years of leadership and dedicated service to her fellow citizens of the Town of Glasgow and to the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Roberta B. Lyle as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for her many achievements and best wishes in all her future endeavors.
