HJ1031: Celebrating the life of Pamela Hall Staats.
WHEREAS, Pamela Hall Staats of Buena Vista, an admired citizen and respected community leader, died on December 4, 2008; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Hall Staats was born on December 13, 1956, the daughter of James P. “Buddy” Hall and Doris “Sissy” Huffman Hall; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Hall Staats was employed by the City of Buena Vista and worked in the Finance Department for 32 years; and
WHEREAS, a woman of deep faith, Pamela Hall Staats was a member of Calvary Brethren Church; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Hall Staats used her knowledge of financial matters to serve Calvary Brethren Church as a member of the church board and as treasurer; and
WHEREAS, putting faith into practice, Pamela Hall Staats was active in her community in various ways, including as a member of the Buena Vista Jaycees; she became a Life Member of the Virginia Jaycees; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Hall Staats served 23 years as a member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad and became a Life Member of the Buena Vista Rescue Squad; and
WHEREAS, her colleagues on the Buena Vista Rescue Squad elected Pamela Hall Staats captain of the squad, the only female member so honored; and
WHEREAS, the Buena Vista Rescue Squad annually recognizes members who have ranked in the Top Ten Most Calls Answered, and for 20 consecutive years, Pamela Hall Staats achieved that recognition; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Hall Staats was the devoted wife of Larry Wayne Staats, the loving mother of Kimberly Hall Dorey, and doting grandmother of Alden Parrish Dorey and Kellan James Dorey; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Hall Staats encouraged and motivated those around her, serving her church and community well; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the passing of a faithful and committed individual, dedicated community leader, and loving wife and parent, Pamela Hall Staats; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family and friends of Pamela Hall Staats as an expression of the esteem in which her memory is held by the members of the General Assembly.
