HJ801: Commending Ernest Allen Talbert.
WHEREAS, Ernest (Bill) Allen Talbert of Dillwyn in Buckingham County is commended for his longtime service as a volunteer firefighter; and
WHEREAS, a well-regarded and dedicated individual, Bill Talbert has generously given his time and talents to his community for over 50 years as a volunteer firefighter; and
WHEREAS, volunteer firefighters play a vital role in protecting and safeguarding the citizens of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, hard-working and committed individuals, volunteer firefighters respond to emergency calls, battle fires in homes and outdoors, and provide public education on how to prevent fires; and
WHEREAS, Bill Talbert served 15 years as a volunteer firefighter with the Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department, which provides service to the citizens of Appomattox County; and
WHEREAS, a visionary man, Bill Talbert saw the need for expanded fire services in Buckingham County and became a charter member of the Toga Fire Department, which was formed in 1972; and
WHEREAS, a caring and responsible citizen, Bill Talbert has served with the Toga Fire Department for 36 years; and
WHEREAS, dedicated to his community, Bill Talbert has worked hard for over half a century to protect and care for the citizens of Buckingham and Appomattox Counties; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Ernest Allen Talbert, a fine public servant and outstanding Virginian; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ernest Allen Talbert as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude and respect for his decades of service to Buckingham and Appomattox Counties.
