Description
Elections; absentee voting process; first responders. Provides that law-enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders are entitled to vote absentee and requires prompt service on absentee ballot applications backed up by jurisdiction in the circuit courts to order compliance with the statutory requirements. Amends § 24.2-700 (“Persons entitled to vote by absentee ballot.”), § 24.2-701 (“Application for absentee ballot.”), § 24.2-706 (“Duty of general registrar and electoral board on receipt of application; statement of voter.”), of the Code of Virginia.
