Description
Septic systems; nitrogen-reducing technology. Clarifies that the Department of Conservation and Recreation may award grants from the Water Quality Improvement Fund for the replacement or modification of residential onsite sewage systems to include nitrogen removal capabilities. The Board of Health may also require that conventional and alternative onsite sewage systems installed to accept sewage from new residential construction include nitrogen-reducing technology. Amends § 10.1-2132 (“Nonpoint source pollution funding; conditions for approval.”), § 32.1-164 (“Powers and duties of Board; regulations; fees; onsite soil evaluators; letters in lieu of permits; inspections; civil penalties.”), of the Code of Virginia.
