Description

Dam safety.  Authorizes the Director of the Department of Conservation and Recreation, with the approval of the Virginia Soil and Water Conservation Board, to award grants from the Dam Safety, Flood Prevention and Protection Assistance Fund to local governments and private entities for dam break analysis, the mapping and digitization of dam break inundation zones, and incremental damage analysis. Currently, only local governments are eligible to receive grants. The bill also establishes the Dam Safety Administrative Fund, which is capitalized with moneys from the dam application permit fees.
