Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. Opening of the 2010-2011 school year in Planning Districts 5 and 12.

Notwithstanding the provisions of § 22.1-79.1, the school boards in Planning Districts 5 and 12 may set the 2010-2011 school calendar so that the first day students are required to attend school shall be one week prior to Labor Day.
