Description
Transportation funding and administration. Provides additional funding for transportation by (i) imposing a the motor fuels sales tax rate of 1% for highway maintenance, (ii) increasing the state sales tax in Northern Virginia by 0.5 percent for transportation projects in Northern Virginia, and (iii) increasing the recordation tax in Northern Virginia at a rate of $0.40 per $100. The tax increases shall not become effective until after the fiscal year in which the Commonwealth's general funds grow by at least five percent over the previous fiscal year. Im not in favor of highier taxes. BUT I would be ok with paying a few cents more in gas tax (No more then .10) to help pay for further transportation work on ROADS!!!!! Not trains, buses, etc. ROADS. Stop asking drivers to pay for EVERYTHING someone with a wild hair comes up with. Along with the highier tax we need a lock box on transportation funds because the trans budget has been raided several times befor and would have plenty of money right now had they not spent it on other BS.
