WHEREAS, Ted Hochstein was honored as the 44th recipient of the Herndon Rotary Club?s Citizen of the Year award on May 20, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Ted Hochstein has lived in the Herndon community for more than 35 years and over the course of those years has donated thousands of hours of community service; and
WHEREAS, Ted Hochstein has given countless hours to Herndon Optimist youth sports as a coach, referee, and commissioner, where he was known for his fair and respectful manner toward all; and
WHEREAS, Ted Hochstein?s knowledge of and experience with youth athletics also led to his service on the Fairfax County Athletic Council; and
WHEREAS, a respected businessman, Ted Hochstein has served on the Herndon Festival Executive Committee, where his business acumen and knowledge of the volunteer base has been instrumental to the Festival?s success; and
WHEREAS, Ted Hochstein also spent 16 years serving on Town of Herndon boards and commissions, including the Herndon Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals; he was known and respected for his fair and thoughtful manner and commitment to the Town of Herndon and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the Rotary Club honored Ted Hochstein for his leadership in the community and years of volunteer service at a celebratory banquet with his family, friends, and admirers on May 20, 2009; and
WHEREAS, Ted Hochstein has generously given of his time and talents for many decades for the betterment of the Town of Herndon and serves as an exemplary role model for all; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Ted Hochstein on his selection as the 44th recipient of the Herndon Rotary Club?s Citizen of the Year award; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ted Hochstein as an expression of the General Assembly?s congratulations and admiration and gratitude for decades of service to the Herndon community.
