Commending the Southern Fauquier Historical Society, Inc.

WHEREAS, the Southern Fauquier Historical Society, Inc., of the Lee District of Fauquier County was honored as a 2009 Citizen of the Year by the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors; and

WHEREAS, established in 1989, the Southern Fauquier Historical Society works to preserve the County?s past in order to educate the public and future generations about the history, culture, and growth of Fauquier County and the surrounding areas; and

WHEREAS, the Southern Fauquier Historical Society has developed a document repository, preserves artifacts, and works to document, survey, and preserve existing historical resources as part of its mission; and

WHEREAS, staff members of the Southern Fauquier Historical Society also conduct ongoing workshops for the public on the history of Fauquier County; and

WHEREAS, committed to making a difference in the community, the Southern Fauquier Historical Society strives to preserve Fauquier County?s rich historical legacy for future generations; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the Southern Fauquier Historical Society, Inc., as a 2009 Fauquier County Citizen of the Year for the Lee District; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Southern Fauquier Historical Society, Inc., as an expression of the General Assembly?s gratitude for the Society?s dedication to the preservation of Fauquier County?s history.
