Commending Pleasant View Elementary School.

WHEREAS, Pleasant View Elementary School received the Governor?s Award for Educational Excellence for 2007; and

WHEREAS, Pleasant View Elementary School students, faculty, and staff successfully met all federal and state benchmarks for at least two consecutive years; and

WHEREAS, Pleasant View Elementary School students, faculty, and staff earned Virginia Index of Performance Program points for achieving at the advanced level on Standards of Learning assessments; and

WHEREAS, by these and other quantifiable measurements, Pleasant View Elementary School made excellent progress toward an enhanced, comprehensive plan for a strengthened public education for the students; and

WHEREAS, Pleasant View Elementary School, led by Principal Kelly Holmes, benefits from the strong support of the Amherst County School Board and administration, as well as the Amherst County community; and

WHEREAS, Pleasant View Elementary School is one of only 89 Virginia schools to earn the Governor?s Award for Educational Excellence; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the students, faculty, and staff of Pleasant View Elementary School for their commitment to high educational standards; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the students, faculty, and staff of Pleasant View Elementary School as an expression of the General Assembly?s ongoing encouragement as Pleasant View Elementary School continues to strive toward high educational achievements for its students.
