HJ422: Commending the Faith Baptist School girls' basketball team.

WHEREAS, the Faith Baptist School girls? basketball team defeated Valley Christian School before an enthusiastic crowd to take home the 2010 Old Dominion Association of Christian Schools state championship title; and

WHEREAS, the state championship win marked the first time in Faith Baptist School?s history that the girls? basketball team won an Old Dominion Association of Christian Schools state title; and

WHEREAS, on the way to the state championship, the Faith Baptist Conquerors defeated defending state champions Fairfax four times and won 16 consecutive games; and

WHEREAS, the Conquerors (18 - 1) were led by Brittany Burton, who, with 19 points and 21 rebounds, was named the tournament?s most valuable player; she also led the team throughout the year with 63 blocks and averaged 18.1 points and 12.1 rebounds per game; and

WHEREAS, Brook Morgan, who scored seven points in the final, was also named to the tournament?s first team and led the team in assists and steals throughout the season; and

WHEREAS, other team members, Kinsey Fletcher, Cala Lomax, Alexandra Morgan, AshLynn Morgan, Jessica Cornell, Kelly Clements, and Amber Young, all worked hard and contributed to the team?s success during the season and championship games; and

WHEREAS, the triumphant performance of the Conquerors is a tribute to the talent, dedication, and perseverance of the players; the leadership of the coaches; and the tremendous support of the parents, students, and faculty of Faith Baptist School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Faith Baptist School girls? basketball team for its 2010 Old Dominion Association of Christian Schools state championship title; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Faith Baptist School girls? basketball team as an expression of the General Assembly?s congratulations and admiration for the team?s championship performance.
