Since 2001 VDOT has been audited 8 times & evaluated by independent groups. One conservative group, the Reason Foundation said in its 2007 study of VDOT, "Virginia has good system conditions, managed on a thin budget." Now the McDonnell & the repubs want a year-long audit of VDOT by a private company & will take millions out of the nearly-depleted VDOT funds to pay for it. VDOT's 6-yr revenues fell by $4.6 billion since 2008, leading to job cuts, closed offices, and restricted services. What are these people thinking...?
