Description

Landlord and Tenant; eviction procedure; acceptance of redemption tenders.  Provides that when a tenant presents on or before the first return date on an action for unlawful detainer a redemption tender from a local governments eviction prevention agency, a church or other religious institution, or a nonprofit organization in the amount of all current rent, reasonable late charges, attorney fees, and court costs, the court shall continue the action for 10 days. Amends § 55-243 (“How judgment of forfeiture prevented.”), § 55-248.34:1 (“Landlord\u2019s acceptance of rent with reservation.”), of the Code of Virginia. View Full Text »
