Description

Assault and battery against a family or household member; protective order; penalty.  Provides that a person who commits an assault and battery against a person who is protected by the provisions of a protective order is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor and for a third offense, a Class 6 felony. Amends § 18.2-57.2 (“Assault and battery against a family or household member; penalty.”), § 19.2-151 (“Satisfaction and discharge of assault and similar charges.”), § 37.2-506 (“Background checks required.”), of the Code of Virginia.
