Her threads of love are wowen through contributions of African American's in the fabric of America. Lawren Bellamy- Boykin writes:

When a group of people respect individual contributions we discover character, which is the foundation of our history and the hope of our future.

We are honored during Black History Month, in the 2012 theme "Black Women in History and Culture; by The Virginia General Assembly as they salute our mother, Augustine Howard Bellamy.

Her energy and devotion to the education of Virginians on the contributions of African Americans throughout Augusta County and surrounding areas was a work of love.
She treasured the heritage of her people who excelled against insurmountable odds, as she encouraged everyone to reach beyond shallow shores and dive into the seas of success.

The epitome of courage, she stood when it was easier to sit, and taught us all how tall we could truly be, as we stood with confidence and trust. We were blessed by her time and presence in our lives.

To State Representatives Bell and Landes we thank you as you co-sponsored the legislation celebrating the life of Augustine Howard Bellamy in the Virginia House and Senate.

Virginia history deplicts the landing of African Americans in 1619; Augustine Howard Bellamy spotlighted the accomplishments which we again celebrate in 2012.

May we continue to make history, as we grow in love and respect for one another.

Tawana McCarthy writes:

The late Mrs.Augustine Bellamy is my great Aunt. She was a very wise and intelligent woman. She made a mark in our history that will live on forever.

Chanda McGuffin writes:

As one of Mrs. Bellamy's many students, I feel so blessed to have had her in my life as a little girl in a predominately white school. She made me feel beautiful and embrace my heritage, my hair, my skin color and my spirit.

I am honored and appreciate that she is being recognized in this manner. I know that she is smiling from heaven with her eyes so bright with a humble spirit of thanks.

I spent countless hours at her home going through all of the history that she had collected over the years. I pray that even though she has passed away, her legacy will remain in all of us. This tribute will be a significant way of ensuring her legacy lives on.

Thank you Mrs. Bellamy not for just being you, but for loving me!

Ester Marshall (Randolph) writes:

Wow. everyone has spoken so eloquently about an eloquent lady. However I choose to look at her as a pioneer that cut down the pathway of injustice that she saw and witnessed. She stood tall and brave amongst the strongest and the Whites!!!! She proved that enough was enough and we/her children deserved more, at least truth and fairness. She fought the best with little armor just her faith, persistence, God leading her through most of her battles (some she fought alone) lol She will truly be missed, there was only one Tiny, but thank God she left behind a army.

She was a woman of integrity and her knowledge and wisdom was freely passed on to anyone who encounted her. she not only loved black history but she was indeed a historian of all mankind. Such an honor shows us that her living was not in vain. Hooray to the commitee for honoring " A Very Special Lady."
