Description

Mammograms; information on breast density.  Requires the Board of Health to establish guidelines requiring all mammogram reports to include information on breast density. Such information shall inform patients with dense breast tissue, as determined by the physician, that supplementary screening tests may be beneficial, depending on individual risk factors. I think this bill has the potential to help save lives of women with dense breast tissue. I think the wording of the bill should also include what kinds of supplementary screenings are available.
All women are encouraged to have mammograms, and women depend on the accuracy of those exams.
An error in such an exam is just as bad as no exam at all, or perhaps worse....for then we have left someone with a false sense of security. And an opportunity for breast disease to go undetected perhaps until the next mammogram.

Dense tissue in the breast...
Demands supplementary retest!!

Dense breast?
More tests!!

If there is an issue,
Retest the tissue.

I am a retired RN with 34 years experience in surgery,
and I saw many mastectomies performed during that time.
Today, we have mammograms and other forms of early detection for abnormal tissue. Let's use them, for a better prognosis.
Please consider House Bill 83, issue #7 with these thoughts in mind. Thanks! Sarah Willman

This bill is extremely important to me and others like me who have older daughters with very young children. The very best technology that we have developed should definitely be used as indicated.
