James writes:

VDOT shouldnt be allowed to charge a fee to use those transponders. This is a racket

Paul Casey writes:

I support Del. Loupassi's bill (HB1302) banning the imposition of fees on users of the EZ Pass transponders. NO FEES ON TRANSPONDERS. I previously wrote a detailed letter to VDOT (during the public comment charade)asserting that it benefits all drivers when any drivers utilize the EZ Pass Transponders (reduces lines at the lanes accepting other forms of payment). The costs associated with the program should therefore be shared by all drivers, and be paid out of ALL tolls collected. It also saves the toll operators money in the long run, as it costs less than other means of collecting tolls...after all that is how we were "sold" on the program at its inception. Could it be that the "private toll road industry" is behind the move to charge a fee so as to move money from the pockets of consumers into their profit column? I ask that our legislators do the just thing on this one. WE ARE BEING "FEE-ED" TO DEATH IN VIRGINIA. ENOUGH ALREADY!
