Description

State and Local Government Conflict of Interests Act; statements of economic interests. Removes the exception from disclosure of gifts from a personal friend of the filer. The bill also includes the immediate family members of the officer or employee under the prohibition against accepting gifts for services performed within the scope of or that reasonably tend to influence the officer or employee in the performance of his duties. In addition, the bill (i) limits any payment for or reimbursement for actual travel, lodging, or subsistence expenses incurred in connection with such appearance, speech, or article to the per diem deduction allowable under 162 of the Internal Revenue Code and (ii) provides for a mandatory fine of $2,500 for certain violations.
