Description
Economic Development for Virginians with Disabilities Grant Program. Creates a grant fund to be distributed to nonprofit organizations that sell donated goods and spend at least 75% of their revenues on program services, including employing or training people with disabilities or people with barriers to self-sufficiency. The term "people with barriers to self-sufficiency" is defined as people who have limited or no work experience, a low level of education or training, physical or mental disabilities, or lack of workplace skills. The grant funds are to assist with capital costs associated with construction of retail stores and other employment facilities. The program shall be administered by the Secretary of Health and Human Resources. The bill is contingent on funding in the appropriation act. Read the Bill »
