Description

Office of Broadband Assistance; established. Establishes the Office of Broadband Assistance under the Secretary of Technology. The office would support the efforts of both public and quasi-public bodies within the Commonwealth to enhance or facilitate the demand for, deployment of, and access to broadband Internet for underserved areas within the Commonwealth. The office would also serve as a broadband information clearinghouse for the Commonwealth and a coordination point for broadband related services and programs in the Commonwealth. The director of the office would advise the Secretary on trends in broadband deployment and report annually by December 1 to the Governor and General Assembly. Read the Bill »
