A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding sections numbered 2.2-3103.1 and 24.2-906.2, relating to conflicts of interest and campaign finance; prohibitions on the acceptance of certain gifts and campaign contributions by constitutional officers and members of governing bodies.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding sections numbered 2.2-3103.1 and 24.2-906.2 as follows:

§ 2.2-3103.1. Prohibition on acceptance of certain gifts by constitutional officers and members of governing bodies.

No constitutional officer or member of a local governing body shall accept any gift with a value of more than $50 or aggregation of gifts in one calendar year with a value of more than $50 from any person with whom his locality conducts business or who has any matter pending for action by the office of the constitutional officer or by the governing body.

§ 24.2-906.2. Prohibition on acceptance of certain contributions by constitutional officers and members of governing bodies.

No constitutional officer or member of a local governing body and no candidate for a constitutional office or membership on a local governing body shall accept any campaign contribution with a value of more than $50 or aggregation of contributions in one calendar year with a value of more than $50 from any person with whom his locality conducts business or who has any matter pending for action by the office of the constitutional officer or by the governing body.
