HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 355

Commending the King William High School competition cheer team.
Patrons-- Peace and Morgan

WHEREAS, the 2005 competition cheer team from King William High School captured the Virginia High School League Group A state championship; and

WHEREAS, on the way to the state championship, the King William High School cheer team made a clean sweep by winning the Tidewater Title, district championship, and Region A, regional championship; and

WHEREAS, the competition cheerleaders relied on their exceptional athleticism and dance moves to secure their wins; and

WHEREAS, cocaptains of the cheer team were seniors Lauren Childress and Holly Mahanes and the rest of the roster included Mara Newcomb, Emily Pitts, Sara Mundy, Nikkie Johnson, Stephanie Voelcker, Katie Furr, Jessie Childress, Brittany York, Shaina Parm, Kristen Hundley, Rachelle Gerard, Lacey Parker, Lindsay Spangler, and Bridget Cassidy; and

WHEREAS, the success of the cheer team is a tribute to the leadership of coaches Jenni Longest and Gail Cassidy and to the talent, perseverance, and team work of the competition cheerleaders; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the King William High School competition cheer team on its outstanding 2005 season and impressive victory in the Virginia High School League Group A state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to coaches Jenni Longest and Gail Cassidy in honor of the championship performance of the King William High School competition cheer team.
