HJ546: Commending the National Congress of Vietnamese Americans on its 20th anniversary.
WHEREAS, the National Congress of Vietnamese Americans, located in Springfield, Virginia, was organized in 1986 to advance the cause of Vietnamese Americans; and
WHEREAS, the National Congress of Vietnamese Americans has taken a leadership role in organizing programs to educate, improve the health, and encourage the participation of Vietnamese Americans in the political process; and
WHEREAS, the National Congress of Vietnamese Americans provided valuable assistance to the United States Census Bureau in conducting the 1990 and 2000 census; and
WHEREAS, the National Congress of Vietnamese Americans continues to assist governments by sponsoring programs to promote economic development and self-sufficiency and by providing translation services to Fairfax County Health and Human Services and others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the National Congress of Vietnamese Americans be commended for its efforts on behalf of Vietnamese Americans and its assistance to governments; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the president of the National Congress of Vietnamese Americans as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the goals and achievements of this fine Virginia organization.
