Description

Standard diploma in career and technical education. Requires the Board of Education to establish requirements for a standard diploma in career and technical education, comprised of 22 total credits as follows: (i) four credits in English, one of which must be in technical writing or reading; (ii) three credits in mathematics; (iii) two credit units in laboratory science; (iv) two credits in history and social sciences; (v) one credit in the fine or practical arts; (vi) two credits in health or physical education; and (vii) eight credits in career and technical education. Of the 22 total credits, a total of six verified units of credit must be required to earn the standard diploma in career and technical education. Read the Bill »

CTE course electves are embedded in the Standard and Advanced Studies Diploma. Students need strong academic, as well as technical, skills to succeed in the global workforce. There is not sound rational to consider adding a third diploma and this bill should not be considered.
