Comments
This is a real problem in our area. Most localities can not yet afford full-time EMS providers, but the Rescue Stations and Volunteer Fire Departments are seriously under-staffed.
I know that, or example, Louisa County, provides free county car tax stickers to members of the community that volunteer fire and rescue. But this is only a $20 annual bonus, and seeing that the Commonwealth requires almost 130 hours of classroom training just to be a Basic EMT, this is not nearly enough incentive to help with recruitment and retention.
