Description

Utility Facilities Act; telephone companies. Eliminates the requirement that the State Corporation Commission approve the acquisition or disposal of the assets or of control of a telephone company. The measure will not apply to transactions for which applications seeking Commission approval were filed prior to July 1, 2007. Read the Bill »

This seems like an enormous change, but I'm not equipped with the information to understand the impact that it will have. What is the reason that the SCC has historically had to approve such things? What is the need for eliminating that approval process?
