Celebrating the life of Captain Shane T. Adcock.

WHEREAS, United States Army Captain Shane T. Adcock of Mechanicsville died in the line of duty in Kirkuk Province in Iraq on October 11, 2006; and

WHEREAS, growing up in Mechanicsville, Shane Adcock was active in his community as a Boy Scout, attended the National Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, received an Atlee Ruritan Scholarship award, and was a popular student and member of his high school wrestling team; and

WHEREAS, Shane Adcock attended Atlee High School, graduated from Longwood University in 2003, and was a graduate of the school's ROTC program; and

WHEREAS, an accomplished field artillery officer with the United States Army's 25th Infantry Division, Captain Adcock served in Afghanistan for more than a year before his deployment to Iraq; and

WHEREAS, Captain Adcock deeply loved his wife, Jennifer Skeele, whom he married on June 4, 2006, a month before he deployed to Iraq; and

WHEREAS, Captain Adcock will be fondly remembered for his love of the outdoors, rock climbing, and surfing and greatly missed by his wife Jennifer, his loving parents Maris and Vera Adcock, his younger sister Shannon, and numerous other family members and friends; and

WHEREAS, the profound loss of Captain Adcock is a reminder of the hazards our devoted young men and women of the armed forces face every day in loyal service to their country; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby mourn the death of a courageous soldier and patriotic Virginian, Captain Shane T. Adcock; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Captain Shane T. Adcock as an expression of the high regard in which his memory is held by the members of the General Assembly and the citizens of the Commonwealth.
