HJ604: Commending the Virginia Society of Association Executives and its member associations.
WHEREAS, the Virginia Society of Association Executives is comprised of more than 125 trade associations, professional societies, and other nonprofit membership organizations representing over 500,000 Virginians from all walks of life; and
WHEREAS, through their codes of ethics and professional standards, these associations protect Virginians from illegal, unsafe, unethical, or otherwise unacceptable conduct; and
WHEREAS, through the promulgation of performance and safety
standards, these associations improve
the quality and reliability of the products and services on which Virginians
rely; and
WHEREAS, these associations engage in educational and research efforts that improve techniques, management skills, and productivity; add to basic knowledge; help bring technological innovation to the marketplace; and provide comparative benchmarks for members of Virginia’s industries and professions; and
WHEREAS, Virginia’s associations mobilize and focus the talents of their members toward community service; and
WHEREAS, through their activity in the political arena, Virginia’s associations disseminate information to policymakers to foster informed decision-making, keep their members apprised of and compliant with government regulations, and enable their members to exercise their rights of political expression in an effective manner; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Society of Association Executives and its member associations are an intrinsic part of Virginia’s economy and an increasingly vital part of everyday life in the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate the Virginia Society of Association Executives and its member associations for their outstanding service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER that the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia Society of Association Executives as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for its dedication and service to its members and the citizens of the Commonwealth.
