HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 827

Commending Kaitlyn Hiltz.

Patrons-- Purkey, Iaquinto, Suit, Tata, Wardrup and Welch; Senators: Blevins, Stolle and Wagner

WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Hiltz, a senior forward at Cox High School in Virginia Beach, led the Falcons to a perfect 23-0 season in 2006 and the school's 14th Group AAA state field hockey championship; and

WHEREAS, in three years on the varsity team, Kaitlyn Hiltz has scored a total of 88 goals, with 50 of those coming in the 2006 season, making her the top scorer for the season in Virginia and possibly in the nation; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Hiltz scored in all 23 games in the 2006 season, which puts her in a tie for third place nationally for scoring in consecutive games; and

WHEREAS, due to her outstanding skills and great success Kaitlyn Hiltz earned All-Tidewater Player of the Year, All-Eastern Region Player of the Year, and All-State Player of the Year honors; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Hiltz was one of only five high school players to participate in the USA Field Hockey National Women's Championships in the summer of 2006 and, as a member of USA Field Hockey’s Elite Futures program, she also made the national women’s squad that played in the U-19 Holland Team Tour; and

WHEREAS, a terrific all-around athlete who used to be on the cheerleading squad and is still a member of the Falcons gymnastics team, Kaitlyn Hiltz will attend the University of Virginia in the fall and looks forward to contributing to the Cavaliers' field hockey team; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Kaitlyn Hiltz on her spectacular senior season with the Cox High School field hockey team; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kaitlyn Hiltz as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her talent and determination and congratulations for her great success in 2006.
