Celebrating the life of Herbert Levi Sharpe, Sr.

WHEREAS, Herbert Levi Sharpe, Sr., native son, was born on November 16, 1954, and passed on March 25, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Levi Sharpe, Sr., was educated in the Goochland Public Schools, and after graduation, enlisted in the military where he proudly served his country for six years in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Levi Sharpe, Sr., affectionately called "Junie," was the eldest of 11 children and was dutiful in his relationships with siblings and family; and

WHEREAS, faithfulness and duty to family, service to community, and kindness and generosity to others characterized the life of Herbert Levi Sharpe, Sr., and family, friends, and neighbors were warmly welcomed in his home; and

WHEREAS, an avid Redskins fan, he proudly sang “Hail to the Redskins” after each victory and defeat; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Levi Sharpe, Sr., was a lifetime member of Chief Cornerstone Baptist Church in Goochland County, and will be fondly remembered by the people of Goochland County and Henrico County as a dedicated citizen and a much respected and admired family man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Herbert Levi Sharpe, Sr.; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Herbert Levi Sharpe, Sr., as an expression of the esteem in which his memory and service to the nation and this Commonwealth are held by the members of the General Assembly.
