Commending William E. Laine, Jr.

WHEREAS, William E. Laine, Jr., the respected and admired clerk of the Circuit Court of Isle of Wight County, retired on December 31, 2007; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated and experienced public servant, William Laine began his distinguished public service career as the clerk of the Circuit Court of Isle of Wight County on January 1, 1973; and

WHEREAS, through his tireless energy and steadfast loyalty, William Laine diligently has worked to improve the quality of services provided his fellow citizens and his depth of knowledge has been an invaluable resource to the Clerk’s Office and Isle of Wight County; and

WHEREAS, William Laine has been a great mentor to his devoted staff and fellow colleagues, and he has always been willing to share his considerable expertise with others; and

WHEREAS, an enthusiastic supporter of his community and his profession, William Laine has given his time and immense talents to many civic and professional organizations over the years; and

WHEREAS, William Laine has served the citizens of Isle of Wight County with great skill, professionalism, and integrity; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend William E. Laine, Jr., on his 34 years of outstanding public service to the Circuit Court of Isle of Wight County and his fellow citizens; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to William E. Laine, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation of his many achievements and best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement.
