Commending VISTA Wealth Strategies and Judy Redpath.

WHEREAS, VISTA Wealth Strategies and its outstanding founder Judy Redpath were honored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Reston Interfaith, Inc., with a prestigious 2008 Best of Reston award; and

WHEREAS, the Best of Reston awards were established to recognize individuals, businesses, and organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the Reston community and improving the lives of others; and

WHEREAS, in 1996, Judy Redpath began her own successful business in financial planning management and formed VISTA Wealth Strategies in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Judy Redpath is always willing to share her knowledge and financial expertise with others by providing free financial planning to families of aging parents at the Tall Oaks Fellowship House and developing a free financial literacy program for Reston Interfaith clients, and she is also a hardworking member of the Distributions Committee of the Survivors’ Fund; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and concerned citizen, Judy Redpath firmly believes that small businesses can make a great difference in the lives of others and individual acts, large and small, can help citizens in need in Reston; she makes a point of collecting hotel toiletries from fellow attendees at conferences to donate to the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, and she continually goes out of her way to educate others about area homelessness; and

WHEREAS, as the dedicated chair of the National Capital Area Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, Judy Redpath was honored with the organization’s Norma G. Severns Leadership Award in 2007 for her outstanding service to the community; and

WHEREAS, Judy Redpath gives her time and many talents to numerous civic organizations, serving as a member of the board of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce, as past president of the Dulles Rotary Club, and as an active member of the Herndon Rotary Club; and

WHEREAS, Judy Redpath is also a distinguished member of the Leadership Fairfax Class of 2003 and the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, over the years, Judy Redpath has participated in community events to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, volunteered as a table leader at the annual South Lakes High School Ethics Day, and served for three years as the exemplary cochair of the Best of Reston Committee; and

WHEREAS, a leader among Northern Virginia businesses, VISTA Wealth Strategies is an integral partner of the Reston community, and Judy Redpath has worked with great energy and dedication to improve the quality of life of her fellow residents in Reston; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Judy Redpath and VISTA Wealth Strategies on the company’s outstanding service to the citizens of Northern Virginia and on her well-deserved honor as a 2008 Best of Reston award recipient; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Judy Redpath as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration and gratitude for her many efforts on behalf of the community of Reston.
