Description
Board of Education; benchmarks for student reading achievement; adolescent literacy. Requires the Board of Education to establish benchmarks for student achievement in reading in grades six through 12 to be implemented by local school divisions in English, history and social science, science, and math. Provides that the benchmarks must be infused into the designated Standards of Learning and related assessments. Additionally requires local school boards to develop comprehensive literacy policies and action plans in order to implement the Board of Education benchmarks. Read the Bill »
