I'm not sure how this measure will keep the scammers and phony locksmiths from inundating the Northern Va. area as they had in the past, I don't think you have a grasp of what has already been passed. The object here is to strengthen the law, not water it down as you have proposed. Not smart.

I oppose the move from DCJS to DPOR for several reasons

1. DCJS is much better equipped to deal with the phony locksmiths.
2. Locksmiths are more like the Alarm Industry than fingernail girls.
3. DCJS is much better at making sure that Locksmiths maintain there license number on all advertising and keep up with training requirements.
4. Most Virginia Locksmith are now Licensed. PS: I can assure you there will be no refunds.
5. So now you are talking about another $200.00 Dollars and forty dollars a year is not going to get us any enforcement.
6. Every other Locksmith in other States that I have spoken to wish that they had DCJS because there Attorney Generals are not doing anything to slow down or stop the scammers.
7. I agree that improvements can be made to this Law, but a death sentence is what some want by sending it to DPOR
8. First off the Law has only been in place for a few months second none of the legislation that I have seen yet is an improvement, just kill it. That the easy way out.
9. Protection of the public is the main reason for the Law, without enforcement it’s just another TAX.

I urge everyone to oppose this Bill HB2603.
