Commending Lee-Davis High School on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.

WHEREAS, in 2009 Lee-Davis High School of the Hanover County Public Schools celebrates its 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Lee-Davis High School opened its doors in April 1959, and students from the Washington-Henry and Battlefield High Schools combined to form the first class of 72 June graduates; nearly 400 students will graduate in the class of 2009; and

WHEREAS, Lee-Davis High School's outstanding educators are committed to the school’s mission statement to prepare students for success in future academic, social, and business endeavors by providing an atmosphere that supports the cooperation of teachers, students, and parents in a variety of learning activities; and

WHEREAS, throughout the school’s 50-year history, the dedicated administration, teachers, staff, and coaches of Lee-Davis High School have been committed to providing the highest quality education possible; and

WHEREAS, Lee-Davis High School teachers and student body will host a gala 50th anniversary celebration on April 18, 2009, featuring a commemorative ceremony, alumni social, school tours, video presentation, memorabilia rooms, and a Hall of Excellence; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Lee-Davis High School on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Michael Bishop, principal of Lee-Davis High School, as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to the high school for its commitment to the young people of Hanover County and best wishes for a joyful anniversary celebration.

WHEREAS, Lee-Davis High School of the Hanover County Public Schools celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2009; and
