Description

Fort Monroe Authority Act.  Establishes the Fort Monroe Authority as a public body corporate and as a political subdivision of the Commonwealth to be governed by a Board of Trustees. As a result of decisions made by the federal Base Realignment and Closure Commission, Fort Monroe will cease to be an army base in 2011, and at that time most of the site will revert to the Commonwealth. Among other duties, the Authority shall have the power to oversee the preservation, conservation, protection, and maintenance of the Commonwealths real property interests at Fort Monroe and the renewal of Fort Monroe as a vibrant and thriving community.
