WHEREAS, on December 17, 2009, Pete T. Twisdale II became the first basketball player to reach 1,000 career points in First Baptist Christian School history; and

WHEREAS, a senior at First Baptist Christian School, Pete Twisdale began attending the school as a sophomore, the same year the school began playing varsity-level basketball; and

WHEREAS, Pete Twisdale reached his 1,000th point late in the fourth quarter of a game against Alliance Christian School; the game was stopped and he received the game ball and a plaque for his outstanding accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, Pete Twisdale is also an outstanding soccer player and has received many awards for his athletic accomplishments, including being named the Best Offensive Player for 2008 with 504 basketball points in a single season, second team All Conference 2008 for the Eastern Virginia Athletic Conference, boys athlete of the year for 2008 - 2009, Most Valuable Player 2009, and first team All Conference 2009 for the Eastern Virginia Athletic Conference; and

WHEREAS, a well-rounded youth, Pete Twisdale excels in academics as well; he is a hard-working and industrious student who currently has a 3.6 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society; and

WHEREAS, Pete Twisdale is a strong leader and serves as the senior class chaplain and was a member of the National BETA Club for 2008 - 2009; and

WHEREAS, Pete Twisdale has accomplished much in his young life and serves as an excellent role model for others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Pete T. Twisdale II for being the first basketball player to reach 1,000 career points in First Baptist Christian School history; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Pete T. Twisdale II as an expression of the General Assembly?s congratulations and admiration for his accomplishments.
