Comments

Michele Shuman writes:

Over 40, 000 people in Virginia have been diagnosed with lupus. The passing of this bill will make lupus awareness much easier to promote. Awareness of this serious disease will result in earlier diagnosis, education, and treatment enabling people to learn to live with this autoimmune disease and avoid more serious damage. Lupus can attack anyone of any age and can attack every organ in the body. There has not been a new drug for lupus for 50 years, imagine that! Those of us with have lupus have been relying on a drug that was made for malaria. A new drug is finally on the horizon. We need an awareness month for lupus. We need awareness of lupus. Awareness saves lives.

CHRISTINE FIELDS writes:

there should be a lupus month. maybe people can learn more about this illness and understand what everyone with lupus goes through. we also need a new drug that can help lupus sufferers. 50 years is too long not to have a new drug for lupus.

Janet Weaver writes:

In 1996 I was diagnosed with Lupus(SLE). It took 7 long years of painful suffering before my diagnosis could be made. I lost my job as a police officer to this disease. I lost support from friends, family and eventually my now ex husband due to their ignorance of the disease. What is not known about Lupus is that no one day is like the next. Lupus patients are somewhat fine one moment and in extreme pain the next. Lupus's unpredictably leaves a lot of it's victims house bound and removed from normal everyday activities. Their lives consists of when to take what medicine at what time and mustering up enough energy to make it through each day.It is very important that others take out the time to make themselves aware of the effects of Lupus and join in the fight for a cure.

Dawn Clark writes:

I feel that there should be a lupus month to help spread awareness of this disease. It would be easier for people to uunderstand what the people with lupus go through even if they dont look sick. If others were more aware then it would easier to spread the word about th lupus and how disabliating it can be to of us that have lupus.

Rosanne Morreale writes:

I think that their should be a Lupus awarness month.most people who don't have Lupus have no idea what Lupus even is, or what people with Lupus go through.I hope and pray every day for more public awarness and a cure for this awful disease
