Description
Transient Occupancy Tax; Brunswick County. Adds Brunswick County to those localities authorized to impose a transient occupancy tax not to exceed five percent, with any excess over two percent to be spent solely on tourism. Under current law, any county may impose a transient occupancy tax not to exceed two percent. Read the Bill »

I've never heard of this kind of tax, what is it?
Most counties have some kind of transient occupancy tax (Lodging tax). Any jurisdiction can impose a 2% TOT by right. Or with the enabling legislation they can have up to 5% with 3% earmarked for tourism promotion.
