The e-Verify program is a program that duplicates rather than replaces the current paper employer verification system. Since the VEC is not an employer or a business, it is not clear that federal law allows it to participate in the E-Verify system as this bill envisions. VACOLAO opposes this bill.

I think the idea is that verification is an additional service that the agency can provide for employers who use the agency's employment referral services. I understand, though, that the E-verify system is pretty wonky so I don't know that I'd rely upon it to absolutely determine whether a prospective employee is eligible for employment in the U.S.
