Rod I., tracking this bill in Photosynthesis, notes:

VB Legislative Agenda item

James writes:

As somebody who has been run off the road while riding a bike, I support this bill.

Bubberella writes:

Thanks, Delegate Toscano, for trying to make "share the road" more than a bumper sticker. I have four avid cyclists in my family and shudder at the close calls they've had with automobiles.

Ryan writes:

Car drivers do not even respect the law with other car drivers - nothing will change.

Whit writes:

This seems like a no brainer to cyclists. This is a good piece of legislation that can be used to educate drivers about their responsibilities of sharing the road with others.

Tim Rosato writes:

This is an important bill, thank you for proposing. I ride a bicycle to work and around town for errands in Vienna, VA. Unfortunately, some drivers follow or pass too closely. This law would help increase awareness and remind everyone that the road needs to be shared.

Miriam Ford writes:

I'm a bicycle commuter and recreational rider. I'm very much in favor of this bill. I know that previous versions didn't pass, but I'm really hoping this one does. Drivers need to know that driving too closely is dangerous. Hitting a cyclist is not only fatal or devastating to the cyclist, it could completely change the driver's life.
