Celebrating the life of Sharone Denise White Bailey.

WHEREAS, Sharone Denise White Bailey, a beloved community supporter who had recently been named the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, died on July 9, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Sharone Bailey brought great joy to her parents, Marcie and the late Otis White, when she was born on December 2, 1953, in Accomac; and

WHEREAS, blessed with a generous heart, Sharone Bailey desired to be of service to others and so earned a bachelor?s degree in social work from Norfolk State University and a master?s degree from Ohio State University before becoming a licensed clinical social worker; and

WHEREAS, a natural leader and compassionate advocate, Sharone Bailey was part owner of Therapeutic Interventions, a community mental health provider, where she worked with at-risk children; and

WHEREAS, Sharone Bailey also served as a board member of the Eastern Shore Rural Health System, where her leadership and experience proved to be a valuable asset as the organization worked to meet the needs of Eastern Shore residents; and

WHEREAS, a beacon of hope and comfort to those who knew her, Sharone Bailey constantly reached out to others and was mindful of the struggles that individuals faced; she frequently helped people get medication they needed and bought food for families in need; and

WHEREAS, Sharone Bailey was recognized in June 2010 by the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce as its Citizen of the Year for her many efforts on behalf of and dedication to her community; and

WHEREAS, Sharone Bailey lived her faith through her works and membership with the Macedonia A.M.E. Church in Accomac, where she was active in the church?s many missions in the community; and

WHEREAS, a talented vocalist, Sharone Bailey loved listening to gospel and jazz and shared her own musical talents as a member of her church choir; and

WHEREAS, Sharone Bailey?s selfless giving positively touched the lives of countless individuals over the course of her life and she leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication to be emulated by others; and

WHEREAS, Sharone Bailey will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her loving husband of 20 years, Butch; stepdaughters, Rori and Dana; mother, Marcie; and numerous other family members, friends, and the Eastern Shore community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of a beloved community advocate and outstanding Virginian, Sharone Denise White Bailey; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Sharone Denise White Bailey as an expression of the General Assembly?s respect for her memory.
