Commending Rosalyn H. and J.V. White.

WHEREAS, Rosalyn H. and J.V. White were both born and raised in scenic and historic Mathews County, Virginia; and

WHEREAS, after spending several years away, Rosalyn ?Roz? and J.V. ?Jeff? White decided to return to their roots and have become valued members of the Mathews County community, making significant contributions to various causes and organizations; and

WHEREAS, the Whites have generously supported the Mathews County Visitor and Information Center, enabling the restoration of  Sibley?s General Store and its recognition on the Virginia Landmarks Register and National Register of Historic Places; and

WHEREAS, Roz and Jeff White have unselfishly given of their time, talents, and resources to The Bay School Cultural Arts Center, helping it become an important cultural and economic gem for the county and the region; and

WHEREAS, the Whites have provided instrumental support and direction to the Boys & Girls Club in Mathews County, building that organization into an important resource for the youth of the community; and

WHEREAS, the Whites recognized the importance of a high quality public education for the youth of Mathews County as key to the County?s long-term growth and success, providing vital resources to local classrooms as well as continuing educational advantages to teachers through their White Foundation; and

WHEREAS, the Whites have also provided leadership and resources to other local foundations, including the Owens Foundation and The Mathews Community Foundation, all in a cooperative effort to support worthy causes and organizations for the betterment of the community; and

WHEREAS, with a deep and abiding love for the great natural beauty of Mathews County, the Whites have magnanimously provided leadership, direction, and personal resources to the Mathews Land Conservancy, and, in particular, the Williams Wharf Landing project; and

WHEREAS, Roz and Jeff White?s liberal benefactions to numerous organizations and institutions within Mathews County have benefited local residents and visitors and resulted in lasting benefits that future generations will enjoy; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and express its sincere appreciation to Rosalyn H. and J.V. White for their longstanding history of philanthropy and leadership in Mathews County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Rosalyn H. and J.V. White as an expression of the General Assembly?s appreciation for their shining example of how citizens can improve their communities through the generous support of worthwhile organizations and efforts.
